CG Work: Empire State
2000-2004 | In 1945, a B-25 Bomber caught in dense fog, crashed into the Empire State Building. This ambitious short film, conceived in the late nineties and begun in 2000-2001 recreated this mostly forgotten incident.
Empire State was never completed due to a confluence of reasons. The film served as both a technical and creative testbed, considerably stretching production time. Self created obstacles included custom creation of all content with the exception of stock motion capture for crowd scenes and a reliance on procedural textures to keep memory requirements low. I also bore witness to the 9/11 WTC attacks from my residence, a mere two blocks away. Ultimately, through that experience I lost enthusiasm for the project.
